FORMOSA PLASTICS USA Launches New Horizone™ Technology licensed Polypropylene Production Plant

2025.10.23 Information

Japan Polypropylene Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kaname Iijima, hereinafter “JPP”) is pleased to announce that the new polypropylene production plant of FORMOSA PLASTICS USA (hereinafter “FPC-USA”), to which we licensed our proprietary polypropylene manufacturing technology, the Horizone™ Process, in 2015, has officially commenced operations in Point Comfort, Texas, USA, as of September 2025.

This plant boasts an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons and incorporates our cutting-edge polypropylene manufacturing technology. Notably, the facility enables stable production of the high-performance reactor TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin Elastomer) “NEWCON™,” which contains a high rubber content.

NEWCON™ is ideally suited as a raw material for polypropylene compound products used in automotive applications such as bumpers and instrument panels. With its excellent impact resistance and processability, it is gaining attention as a next-generation polypropylene material applicable to a wide range of uses, including automotive parts, home appliances, and packaging materials.

This collaboration with FPC-USA marks a significant milestone in the global expansion of our proprietary technologies. The commencement of operations reflects the culmination of both companies’ technological capabilities and the strong trust built through previous technology licensing over the years.

JPP remains committed to contributing to a sustainable society by advancing technologies that reduce environmental impact while delivering high-performance materials through our polypropylene manufacturing expertise.
